The founder and Managing Director of Lindon Ventures is Brian Tvenstrup. Brian is a dynamic, results-oriented executive who has worked 20+ years at the intersection of strategy, analytics, marketing, and information technology. A self-described “business person first and technology person second,” he has applied complex problem-solving, machine learning, and data science to develop technical solutions and implement them successfully to solve real business problems. He is a data scientist with deep hands-on expertise in business analytics for direct marketing, digital/online marketing, customer lifecycle management, and profitability optimization. With a hybrid set of technical/analytical skills blended with communication/strategy skills, Brian brings a unique problem-solving ability to every engagement.
Brian began his career as a strategy consultant for Oliver Wyman, one of the world’s top management consulting firms. He worked on a variety of projects in the retail financial services industry, both domestically and internationally. He then moved directly into the financial services industry at Advanta, where he worked in a number of positions in both the retail credit card division as well as the small business lending division. After a series of bank mergers between Advanta, Fleet, and Bank of America, Brian then worked at FICO, the nation’s premier analytical services firm, in a consulting role managing a team bringing cutting-edge optimization solutions to the marketplace.
Brian then had an opportunity to join an early-stage startup. In 2003, he joined First Equity Card Corporation, a new commercial lender focused on underserved small businesses. There he held responsibility for all marketing and credit analytics as well as all information technology functions. He was a member of the executive leadership team and was instrumental in the growth of the portfolio to over $1 billion in receivables in only 5 years.
After the great financial crisis of 2008 caused asset-backed-securitization debt markets to dry up, Brian transitioned to a role in a new industry at MTI Information Technologies, a healthcare marketing services specialty firm, where he was responsible for delivery of all analytics products and services for their customers in the bio-pharmaceutical industry. Brian subsequently joined Modern Marketing Concepts, Inc. as Chief Analytics and Marketing Officer, where he was responsible for the building of a set of capabilities of best-in-class marketing analytics for MMC’s diverse customers and also leading marketing strategy and new product development efforts, particularly in the digital and online marketing space.
In addition to his deep experience in all areas of marketing and analytics, Brian also has related experience in enterprise data management, IT architecture, corporate strategy, organizational leadership, and team building. He has a proven record of success across multiple industries, including retail financial services, healthcare, building products, and general B2B & B2C database marketing.
Brian graduated from Princeton University, where he majored in Economics and Public Policy. He also completed master’s level graduate work in Applied Statistics at Penn State University, and obtained his global MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. He is an active member of both INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences) and the American Marketing Association (AMA), and is a certified Data Scientist, a certified RapidMiner Expert/Analyst, and also a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
